1. What are the staff qualifications and are they police checked for working with children?
All educators require a minimum of Certificate III in Children’s Services. Each room has a Leading Educator who holds a Diploma in Children’s Services or higher. All educators have successful gained a Working With Children’s Check and many hold formal certification in First Aid and Asthma & Anaphylaxis.
2. What types of food do you provide? Do you cater for dietary, cultural and medical needs?
We offer Spring / Summer and Autumn / Winter menus both of which are on a 5-week rotation. All menus are nutritionally balanced to ensure that children are provided with the recommended daily intake of each food group. Breakfast, Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea are provided. Dietary, cultural and medical needs are also catered for at the centre. We encourage families to meet with our cook during the orientation process and discuss the child’s specific needs. All rooms have a copy of the child’s dietary requirements and food allergies, as does the cook.
3. What are the room routines?
Room routines vary depending on the age of the child and the centre you choose. Those children in the babies room follow their individual home routine. As they progress to the Toddler's room, we begin to blend this routine with a more general routine that follows regular mealtimes and sleep patterns. Kindy children have the most structured routine that encourages self-service and independent feeding. Please contact the centre you are interested in to get a more detailed routine.
5. How do I pay my fees to the centre?
We’ve made it easy for you and have direct debit implemented via bank account or credit card. All you need to do is fill out a direct debit form, and payment will come out weekly on a Monday.
6. Does the centre follow a curriculum?
We follow the National Quality Framework and Early Years Learning Framework at the centre. Our curriculum is a balance of child led and adult intentional teaching and offers children the opportunity to participate in active learning whilst having the support and challenge they need from educators. We incorporate elements of the Reggio Emilia approach into our learning to ensure that children have the opportunity to immerse themselves in learning that is rich in creativity whilst offering depth, appropriate challenge and fun.
7. How are behavioural issues dealt with?
All educators hold qualifications in Children’s Services and have accredited training on behaviour management. Behaviour management is visited on an individual level with those children who require support / guidance.
8. How will I know what my child has done in their day at the centre?
Each room offers information about your child’s care and learning for the day in various formats. The Daily Journal displayed at your centre forms part of the planning cycle and documents the activities of the room for that day. Most importantly, educators take the time to have that vital chat in person with you at collection and drop off times every day.
9. Does the centre follow any sun safety guidance?
We follow the Sun Smart program and have an all year round sun policy. Families are asked to provide a sun hat that can be labelled and kept at the centre for their child. Clothing covering shoulders is required as is a water bottle. Sunscreen is applied before going outdoors and staff monitor the UV levels daily.
10. What is the age group of children in each room?
The Babies room caters for children aged 6 weeks to 18 months (approx.). At around 18 months if children are of the age and stage to begin transitioning to the Toddler's room, we will then work with parents to undertake that transition. Children are able to join the Toddler's room from 18 months until they reach 3 years of age, however should parents and staff agree that a child is developmentally and emotionally ready to transition to the Kindy room sooner then we can commence that transition at 2 and a half years. Kindy room children mainly range from the ages of 3 to 5 years.
11. What do I need to bring in for my child?
All families are asked to provide a spare set of clothes for their child in case of any spillages or accidents. Please provide a sunhat and also sunscreen if your child has sensitive skin. Please provide nappies and nappy cream to ensure you have control over the products you want your child to use.
12. What is your accident policy and procedure?
We have a clear policy and procedure to support any accidents that may occur at our centres. All staff at the centre are trained in First Aid. Should an accident occur parents will be informed either at collection time or via telephone immediately. Staff also complete an accident form containing full details of the situation and how it was managed and parents are then asked to sign this at collection time.
13. What is your complaints policy and procedure?
We encourage families to discuss their child’s development, especially raising any concerns or issues you may have.
Any feedback, complaints and grievances raised help us improve our childcare quality and strengthen our positive relationships between our families and our Service. All stakeholders have the right to have a respectful response to their concerns.
All parties involved in a complaint investigation are always required to follow our company code of conduct and the complainant is encouraged to attempt to resolve the complaint directly with the service where possible. Full details available on FAMILY GRIEVANCE Policy
